Social gatherings and ritualized events during the last week of the Great Lent (the Passion or the Holy Week) in Cuglieri, Sardinia, are accompanied with a choir called “a concordu”. Four elderly singers seek to pass to the next generation the symbolism of the ceremonial choral singing and thereby preserve their cultural heritage.

How Does that Sound to You? From Soundscapes to Memories’ Collection: A Way to Map and Narrate Territories through Active Listening

The workshop “How does that sound to you?” took place between September 2015 and March 2016 in the Community of Alto Garda e Ledro (Northern Italy). It has been conceived and curated by Sara Maino, for the team “Portobeseno”, as a cultural and artistic project concerning soundscapes and ethnography’s research. The aim was to involve young people in an educational path in order to explore and to narrate their territory, the Sarca valley, through sounds, memories and meetings with the old people.
